About
Stitchcard helps you design punch cards for 24-stitch knitting machines. Each card row is one row of knitting;
a punched hole selects the second yarn (or a purl bump in texture mode).
How to use it
- Pattern. Draw a small motif. Use flip, rotate, invert and move to adjust it.
- Punch card. Tile the motif with a wallpaper-symmetry rule, or let wave function collapse invent a card whose small neighbourhoods all come from your motif.
- Knit preview. Pick yarn colours and a style to see the fabric.
- Export. Download PNG or SVG, or open the print template for a full-size card at 5 mm spacing.
- Designs. Save your work, optionally sharing it publicly.
Tips
- A repeat whose width divides 24 (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24) joins up seamlessly across the card.
- Wave function collapse works best on motifs with some variety. A tiny or very uniform motif leaves it few choices.
- Turning on “rotations and mirrors” gives it more pieces to work with, so it fails less often.
